Aamir began his career as a child actor in films like Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973) and Madhosh (1974). After eleven years, he made his adult acting debut playing a supporting role in Ketan Mehta’s Holi (1984).
In 1988 he got his first leading role in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak which was a huge success and launched his career.[5] After that, he went on to appear in many other films in the 1990s, which did poorly at the box office. However he had success with Dil (1990), which became the highest grossing film of the year and Rangeela (1995), which entered in the top five highest grossing films.Aamir went on to write the screenplay for Mahesh Bhatt’s Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke (1993), in which he also acted.
Khan’s first and only release in 1996 was Dharmesh Darshan’s blockbuster Raja Hindustani opposite Karisma Kapoor. The film earned him his first Filmfare Best Actor Award after eight previous nominations during the 1980s and 1990s and went on to become one of the highest grossing films of its decade.
This was followed by the semi-hit Ishq (1997), which became the fourth highest grossing film of that year[10] and the moderately successful Ghulam (1998), for which he also did playback singing. John Mathew Matthan’s moderately successful Sarfarosh (1999) was Khan’s first release in 1999. His role as a dedicated cop fighting border terrorism won him critical acclaim. His negative role in Deepa Mehta’s offbeat film Earth (1999) also won him acclaim. His first release for the new millenium was the box-office failure Mela where he acted alongside his real-life brother Faisal Khan.

His second release, the moderately successful Dil Chahta Hai (2001) also entered in the top five highest grossing films of 2001 and earned him another nomination for Best Actor at the Filmfare ceremony.
For the next three years, Khan had no releases, as he put in a lot of time preparing for the role of the real-life martyr Mangal Pandey in his comeback film, The Rising (2005) Although the film was not as successful as Lagaan, it managed to do moderately well, becoming the third highest grossing film of that year.
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s critically acclaimed Rang De Basanti was Aamir’s first release in 2006. His role was well acclaimed, earning him a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance and various nominations for Best Actor including the Filmfare Awards. The film went on to become one of the highest grossing films of the year and was selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars Although the film was not shortlisted as a nominee, it won a nomination for Best Foreign Film at the BAFTA Awards in England. His performance in his next release, Fanaa (2006) was also acclaimed and the film went on to become one of the highest grossing films of 2006.

Kate Elizabeth Winslet (born October 5, 1975) is a five-time Academy Award-nominated, Emmy Award-nominated, BAFTA, Grammy and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning English actress.
She is noted for having played a wide range of diverse characters over her career, but is probably best-known for her critically acclaimed performances as Juliet Hulme in Heavenly Creatures (1994), Rose DeWitt Bukater in the highest-grossing film of all time, Titanic (1997), and Clementine Kruczynski in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).
She is the winner of a BAFTA and SAG Award, and a five-time Oscar nominee. At the age of 22, she broke the record for the youngest person to receive two Oscar nominations, and each of her subsequent nominations has broken a further record: the youngest person to receive three, four, and five nominations.
Biography
Early Life
Kate Winslet was born in Reading, Berkshire, England to Roger Winslet and Sally Bridges, both of whom were actors. Her maternal grandparents, Oliver and Linda Bridges, founded and operated the Reading Repertory, and her uncle, Robert Bridges, appeared in the original West End production of Oliver! Her sisters are Beth Winslet and Anna Winslet, also actresses. Most of the people in her family are actors, so her continuing the time-honored tradition was perhaps a natural progression.
Winslet, raised as an Anglican, began studying drama at the age of eleven at the Redroofs Theatre School, a co-educational independent school in Maidenhead, Berkshire, where she was head girl and was soon cast as a spokesperson for a cereal in television commercials. Although she seems to be living an almost idealistic existence, it wasn’t always that way. Throughout her adolescence, she was severely bullied for being overweight and having exceptionally large feet (which she inherited from her mother).
Career

Winslet’s career began on television, with a co-starring role in the BBC children’s science fiction serial Dark Season in 1991. This was followed by appearances in the made-for-tv movie Anglo-Saxon Attitudes in 1992 and an episode of the medical drama Casualty in 1993, also for the BBC.
Winslet alongside Melanie Lynskey in Heavenly Creatures. This was her first film role.
Her film career took off with praise and recognition in 1994 when she starred in a joint leading role, as Juliet Hulme in director Peter Jackson’s critically acclaimed Heavenly Creatures, playing a vivacious and imaginative teen who helps her best friend murder her mother when they are not allowed to be together.
This role was followed by the successful film Sense and Sensibility (co-starring Emma Thompson), which made her well-known, especially in the UK. Winslet became famous world-wide after the 1997 release of Titanic, a massive hit which holds the record as highest-grossing film in history (not accounting for inflation) at more than 1 billion dollars in box-office worldwide. It went on to win 11 Academy Awards.
Winslet has been regarded as something of a critics’ darling, generally receiving positive reviews for every one of her films. Despite Titanic’s success, she has continued making lower-budget, independent films, including Hideous Kinky and Holy Smoke!; her roles in these smaller, more artistic films appear to be one of choice – she turned down the lead in Shakespeare in Love to make Hideous Kinky. She has also taken several roles in studio “period dramas” like Quills, Titanic and Finding Neverland. (For a time, she was given the nickname “Corset Kate”).
Winslet as Rose in Titanic, with Amy Gaipa as her maid, Trudy
In 2005, Winslet appeared in a television commercial for American Express. As part of the “My Life, My Card” campaign, the ad shows Winslet strolling around Camden Lock, in London, as she makes references to all the events that have happened to her film characters – such as going to prison for murder (Heavenly Creatures), being penniless and heartbroken (Sense and Sensibility), almost drowning (Titanic), losing her mind (Iris), having her memory erased (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and being in Neverland (Finding Neverland). During the ad, she is shown holding items relating to her films; during the reference to Sense and Sensibility she thumbs through a copy of the book, and when she references Finding Neverland, she’s holding a hook.

Keira Christina Knightley (pronounced /ˈkɪə.ɹə ˈnaɪt.lɪ/;[1] born 26 March 1985) is an Academy Award-nominated English film and television actress. She began her career as a child actress, and came to international prominence in 2003, after co-starring in the films Bend It Like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Knightley has since become a notable lead actress, having appeared in several Hollywood films and earning an Academy Award nomination for her role as Elizabeth Bennet in Joe Wright’s 2005 adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
Biography
Early Life
Knightley was born in Teddington, Middlesex, England to Sharman Macdonald, a Scottish actress turned award-winning playwright, and Will Knightley, an English theatre and television actor. She has an elder brother, Caleb who was born in 1979. Knightley lived most of her life in Richmond, attending Teddington School and Esher College. Knightley suffers from dyslexia, but nevertheless achieved good grades in school to please her parents, and was thus permitted to acquire a talent agent and pursue an acting career. Knightley has noted that she was “single-minded about acting” during her childhood. She performed in a number of local amateur productions including After Juliet (written by her mother) and United States (written by her then drama teacher, Ian McShane).
Career
Knightley began acting at age seven in her television debut in Royal Celebration (1993) and appearing on the television series, The Bill (1995). She appeared in several other made-for-television films in the mid to late 1990s, before being cast as Sabé, Padmé Amidala’s decoy, in the 1999 science fiction blockbuster Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. Knightley was cast in the role due to her close resemblance to Natalie Portman, who played Padmé; the two actresses’ mothers had difficulty telling their daughters apart when the girls were in full makeup. Knightley’s first starring role followed in 2001, when she played the daughter of Robin Hood in a made-for-television Walt Disney Productions feature, Princess of Thieves. During this time, Knightley also appeared in The Hole, a thriller that received a direct-to-video release in the United States. She also appeared in a mini-series adaptation of Doctor Zhivago that first aired in 2002 to mixed reviews but high ratings.
Knightley as Lara in Dr Zhivago, her biggest role before Bend It Like Beckham.
Knightley’s breakthrough role was in the English football-themed film, Bend It Like Beckham, which was a success in its August 2002 UK release, grossing $18 million, and in its March 2003 U.S. release, grossing $32 million. After Bend It Like Beckham’s UK release raised her profile, she was cast in the big budget action film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (along with Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp) which was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and opened in July 2003 to positive reviews and high box office grosses, becoming one of the biggest hits of summer 2003 and cementing Knightley as the new “It” girl. Knightley had a role in the British romantic comedy Love Actually, which opened in November 2003. Though charismatic, Miss Knightley’s performance was overlooked in the crowded A-List cast. Her next film, King Arthur, opened in July 2004 to negative reviews, scoring only 31% at Rotten Tomatoes. While many liked the new Guinevere, Knightley’s performance was overlooked and she was mostly praised for her appearance. In the same month, Knightley was voted by readers of Hello! magazine as the movie industry’s most promising teen star. Additionally, Time magazine noted in a 2004 feature that Knightley seemed dedicated to developing herself as a serious actress rather than a film star.
2005 would see the release of 3 films, the first of which was The Jacket. The complex thriller starring Adrien Brody was derided by critics as unoriginal, silly and messy, scoring a disappointing 44%. Knightley was taken to task for her American accent but was otherwise dismissed by critics. Next would be Tony Scott’s Domino, an action film based on the life of bounty hunter Domino Harvey. The film would be Knightley’s greatest critical flop to date, scoring only 17% positive reviews. Knightley’s critics often suggested she was nothing more than a pretty face, which lead the young starlet to comment to Elle magazine, “I always feel like I’m the one with everything to prove.” Pride and Prejudice would round out 2005, scoring a lively 85%.As iconic Elizabeth Bennet, Knightley would receive the greatest reviews of her career thus far. From Variety: “Looking every bit a star, Knightley, who’s shown more spirit than acting smarts so far in her career, really steps up to the plate here, holding her own against the more classically trained Macfadyen (as well as vets like Blethyn, Sutherland and Judi Dench) with a luminous strength that recalls a young Audrey Hepburn. More than the older Ehle in the TV series, she catches Elizabeth’s essential skittishness and youthful braggadocio, making her final conversion all the more moving.” The film would gross more than $100 million worldwide and Keira would earn a Golden Globe nomination and an Oscar nomination. It was noted that Keira was snubbed by the BAFTAs- a move which drew criticism from Pride and Prejudice producer Tim Bevan. Keira would ultimately lose both the Oscar and the Golden Globe to American actress Reese Witherspoon.
In 2006, Knightley was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Knightley’s biggest financial hit thus far, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, was released on July 7, 2006. On June 3, 2007, Knightley was up for a MTV Movie Award for Best Performance but she lost to her co-star, Johnny Depp. She has recently completed filming in Silk (an adaptation of the novel by Alessandro Baricco) and Atonement, a feature film adaptation of Ian McEwan’s novel of the same name, co-starring James McAvoy, Vanessa Redgrave and Brenda Blethyn.
Knightley most recently appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, which was released on May 24, 2007; she continued to film scenes for the film near the end of 2006.
In the late spring of 2007, Knightley shot The Edge of Love with Cillian Murphy as her husband, Matthew Rhys as her childhood sweetheart, Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, and Sienna Miller as Thomas’ wife Caitlin MacNamara. This 2008 release was penned by her mother, Sharman Macdonald, and directed by John Maybury. She will next work on The Duchess in which she will play Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire.
Personal Life
Knightley, who currently lives in London, is dating her Pride and Prejudice co-star, Rupert Friend. She has previously dated Irish fashion model Jamie Dornan, as well as actor Del Synnott, who according to some reports, attempted suicide after their relationship ended, although Synnott and Knightley deny these claims. Knightley has stated that she feels uncomfortable dressing up and that she prefers British men over any other nationality, because she feels that British men are less concerned about their own appearance.
She has denied rumours she is anorexic, although she has noted that her family has a history of anorexia, after her appearance at the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest premiere led to media speculation that her extremely slender figure was due to an eating disorder. In July of 2006, Knightley noted that she believes that she has become a workaholic, detailing that “the last five years have blended into one. I can’t tell you what was last year and what was the year before” and specifying that she is “working too much” and is “quite frightened that if I continue at this rate I will start to hate what I love.”As a result, Knightley may take a one year break from acting to travel and focus on her personal life.
Knightley remains a devoted fan of West Ham United, having attended many games as a child.

Sanjay Dutt (born 29 July 1959) is an Indian Bollywood actor. A two time Filmfare Awards winner, he is the son of Bollywood stars Sunil Dutt and Nargis. On 31 July 2007, Sanjay Dutt was sentenced to a jail term of 6 years for illegal possession of firearms acquired from terrorist acquaintances, who were responsible for the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.
Sanjay Dutt was born to one of Bollywood’s most well-known star couples, Nargis Dutt and Sunil Dutt. He has two sisters, Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt. He was educated at the Lawrence School Sanawar.
While he was still in high school, Sanjay Dutt suffered from drug abuse, probably as he was unable to handle the pressure of being the child of two celebrities. His drug problems worsened his mother’s health, who was already diagnosed with cancer. Nargis Dutt died a few weeks before Sanjay Dutt’s first film, Rocky, was to be released. A heartbroken Dutt took to doing more drugs. His father sent him to a rehab center in Texas. But on reaching New York, Dutt suffered from a collapsed lung. After attending a rehabilitation program in the United States, a sober Dutt started working in films again.
Sanjay Dutt acted in several successful films in the 1980s, including Vidhaata (1982), Naam (1986), and Hathyar (1989). He was reportedly director Subhash Ghai‘s first choice to play the lead in Hero (1983), but after witnessing Sanjay Dutt in his drug phase during the shooting of Vidhaata, Ghai picked Jackie Shroff in his place. Sanjay Dutt married Richa Sharma in 1987 (a small-time actress discovered by Dev Anand) who had nursed him back from a lung injury. A year later, the couple had a baby girl, Trishala. Just two months after Trishala’s birth, Risha was diagnosed with cancer and the couple separated. Richa moved to United States with her daughter to live with her parents while Dutt pursued his career in Bollywood. After his wife succumbed to brain tumor in 1996, a bitter custody battle between Dutt and his in-laws over the custody of his only daughter ensued, which Dutt lost. Sanjay Dutt’s sister, Namrata, married actor Kumar Gaurav, the son of yesteryears Bollywood star Rajendra Kumar.
Sanjay Dutt resurrected his cinema career with movies like Sadak (1991) and Saajan (1991). He received his first Filmfare nomination for the best actor in a lead role, for the film Saajan. His breakthrough role came in Subhash Ghai‘s Khalnayak (1993), which became a huge hit and gave his career a boost. He received a filmfare nomination for the film.
The release of Khalnayak (1993) happened to coincide with Sanjay Dutt’s arrest in connection with the 1993 Mumbai Bombings. He was convicted of illegal possession of arms and ammunition, which were allegedly part of the consignment used in the bombings. According to the CBI case filed in a TADA court, it was alleged that the gangster Abu Salem and his men went to Dutt’s house on 16 January 1993 and gave him three AK-56 rifles, 25 hand grenades, one 9 mm pistol and cartridges. He returned two AK-56 rifles, hand grenades and cartridges to Hanif Kadawala and Samir Hingora but kept one AK-56 rifle with himself. The rifle and cartridges allegedly formed part of the consignment, which was smuggled into India at Dighi Port on 9 January 1993.
Sanjay Dutt acknowledged that he personally knew the other accused, but denied the charges that he was involved with the larger conspiracy. He was arrested on 19 April 1993 (about a month after the blasts) and spent more than 18 months in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai, before being released on bail. During this time, he received considerable support from the Indian Film Industry, as well as his fans.
Decision About Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay Dutt was sentenced to 6 years rigorous imprisonment on 31 July 2007 by judge P.D.Kode. His aide Rusi Mulla, however, was awarded probation and is under observation for one year. The media reported that Sanjay Dutt’s arrest put Rs. 1.5 billion of Bollywood business at stake. Sanjay Dutt was also fined Rs. 25,000 and his probation plea was rejected. The actor, who had hoped to be freed under the Probation of Offenders Act, said with folded hands: “Sir, I made a mistake 14 years ago. Please give me some time to surrender.” But the judge rejected the plea. “Act till the age of 100, I have only taken away six years,” the judge said, even adding that he had liked the actor’s performances in films. Sanjay Dutt’s lawyer, Mr Satish Maneshinde, said the actor would appeal against his sentence in the Supreme Court. “We will appeal against the order in the Supreme Court… He has accepted it with a heavy heart,”
